Words of Change

Keeping conversations alive post-Pride Month.

Every year Pink Dot is only given one day to show up in-person to rally for change in the LGBTQ+ community in Singapore, confined within the parameters of Hong Lim Park. In 2022, participants were given the opportunity to pen down their words of change on placards. But unfortunately, due to restrictions around the event, these placards were collected and kept in storage at the end of the event. And come post-pride-month, these messages are forgotten and the steps forward for progress slows down.

In order to give these messages a longer life, we created Words Of Change to invite artists to turn these messages into artworks exhibited islandwide with a network of public spaces - restaurants, cafes, galleries - extending these needed conversations around the local LGBTQ+ community beyond pride month, and outside of the confinements of Singapore’s only venue for public demonstration.
